Sponsored by Freeport – McMoRan
Season Sponsors: First State Bank and Austin American Statesman

Deborah Henson-Conant’s distinctive jazz harp playing will add zest to the Austin Symphony’s Promenade Pops at Palmer Auditorium June 6-8. Timothy Muffitt, ASO Assistant Conductor, will be conducting the performances which begin at 8 pm Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings. Attendees are encouraged to take advantage of table seating and bring picnic dinners; drinks may be purchased at cash bars in the auditorium. (No drinks may be brought into the auditorium.)

According to David Yonke of The Blade magazine, Deborah Henson-Conant is "… a one-woman dynamo, a visionary harp virtuoso with a sense of humor, a flair for showmanship, a gorgeous voice, and a jazz artist’s love of adventure." Henson-Conant is widely considered the world’s premier jazz harpist. She has eight albums on the airwaves and tours extensively in Europe and the United States. She performed her original music in Austin, Texas last year with the Boston Pops and won rave reviews from Austin audiences.

"She dresses like a showgirl, plays the pants off the harp and tells tales with the ease of a stand up comic. Imagine a glamorous Harpo Marx and you begin to get the picture," says Donald Rosenberg, of Plain Dealer (Cleveland.) Henson-Conant has had national appearances on CBS Sunday Morning, CNN Entertainment News, NPR Weekend Edition, the Joan Rivers Show and the Black Entertainment Television Network.
