AUSTIN SYMPHONY ANNOUNCES 1997-98 SEASON
Season Sponsors: First State Bank and Austin American Statesman
Anticipating the announcement of a new music director/conductor in the spring of 1998, the Austin Symphony brings exciting guest artists such as Richard Stoltzman, Alicia de Larrocha, Peter Nero and Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg to perform with the conductor candidates. In addition to the regular season, a special piano recital by Dmitri Ratser will be available for Austin Symphony season subscribers. This fall the Austin Symphony looks forward to hosting four additional music director/conductor candidates — Jacques Lacombe, Paul Polivnick, William Eddins and Peter Bay.
The season opens on Friday, September 19, 1997, with an appearance by Richard Stoltzman performing with the ASO under the baton of Music Director Candidate Jacques Lacombe.
Dmitri Ratser’s recital is a gift to ASO Season Subscribers. This special recital is available only to ’97-’98 season subscribers who redeem special vouchers included in their ’97-’98 season ticket mailing. The recital is on Saturday, February 7, 1998 at Riverbend Center.
Season subscribers receive priority seating and are able to save up to 36% of the cost of buying individual tickets. Season ticket holders may also exchange tickets from one night to the other in a concert pair or for a future concert.
