Austin Symphony’s "Picnic in the Park" – Fun & FREE!

The Austin Symphony will present "Picnic Pops in the Park" — a free performance at the Zilker Hillside Theater in Zilker Park on Sunday, August 25, at 8:30 p.m.. ASO Assistant Conductor Timothy Muffitt will conduct the orchestra in a program of familiar classics, TV themes and marches. Music lovers of all ages are invited to bring blankets, refreshments, family and friends to enjoy an evening of music under stars.

The program includes Strike up the Band Overture, Big Band Fantasy, "Embraceable You" from Girl Crazy, Stardust, Begin the Beguine, International Dixieland Jamboree, The "Unforgettable" Nat King Cole and Duke Ellington Medley.

Conductor Tim Muffitt has been the Assistant Conductor of the Austin Symphony since July, 1995. He is also a Music Director and Conductor of the University of Texas Symphony Orchestra. Before coming to U.T. he was Director of Orchestral Activities at Louisiana State University. He has also been Conductor of the University of Rochester Symphony and Chamber Orchestra.
