Have a lot of recyclable cardboard boxes, but don’t want
to flatten and bundle them down to 3 foot squares for the
city’s curbside recycling? Throw them in your car and
take them down to ACCO Waste Paper of Austin, 385-7600,
4712 Bolm Road (way on the eastside). You can drive right
on to their gigantic lot and throw your boxes (regardless
of size) on to one of their piles and drive off. They
also recycle some plastics and other goods.

I’ve taken all our newspapers here for some time. At
first they offered to pay me, but I said no (my loads
were too small to make it worth anything, anyway) and
they eventually quit asking. I just back up the old VW to
the dock and throw out my stacks; if someone is available
they will come out to help.

If you’re into recycling for the money don’t bother going
here. On the other hand if you want to help the
environment and do it quickly and easily this place will
serve your needs. Now only if they would take cardboard
and other plastics!
